Discover Majorca's Best Beaches

Majorca, one of the Balearic island group, is Spain's largest island and has been an extremely popular tourist destination for over half a century. Its capital is Palma, with its amazing fourteenth century Gothic cathedral watching imperiously over the city. But it is the island's abundance of sandy beaches that make it such a popular tourist destination just Discover Majorca's Best Beaches!

mallorca beaches 1.jpgThe resorts on the south of the island are a great favourite with younger tourists. To the west of Palma is Cala Mayor, a 200 metre natural sandy beach fringed by palm trees; while east of the capital and barely a stone's throw from the airport, is Palma's largest beach, Platja, or Playa de Palma. This is a 6 kilometre stretch of sandy beach, with a parade of bars, restaurants and tourist shops along the promenade. Because traffic is not allowed near the sea-front, the clear, unpolluted atmosphere makes this an extremely popular and pleasant spot. And if you are planning holidays in Majorca, and Discover Majorca's Best Beaches, I recommend you to book Majorca accommodation in advance, to find good offers for Majorca apartments or hotels.

Playa de Palma nestles between El Arenal and C'an Pastilla and a mini train links the three resorts together. By night the area teams with young singles out to make merry and dance the night away in the various clubs abounding the area.

If a more sedate and relaxing holiday is your aim, then Puerto Pollensa, on the opposite side of the island, will probably suit you better. Being the farthest resort from the airport means you won't be constantly disturbed by low flying aircraft. A few kilometres inland from the port area lies the old Roman town of Pollensa, but the hotels and resorts tend to cluster around the port, whose bay comprises of several beaches, some natural, some man-made.

The impressive Sierra de Tramuntana range of mountains towers over the area like a watchful sentinel. From here numerous mountain walks afford a welcome respite from the heat of the beach and breathtaking views out over the bay. This is a popular area for families wanting something more than sun, sand and clubs. However, for the occasional treat, the nearby resort of Alcudia offers fine, sandy beaches, clear, shallow waters and a wide variety of watersports and other beach facilities.

With over twenty beaches and resort areas all around Majorca there is certainly something to suit every taste and every budget. From the unspoilt rugged west coast with its gravel beaches and stunning mountain walks to the upmarket man-made sandy beaches of the east coast's Cala d'Or in Santanyi, Majorca prides itself in catering for every tourist taste.

Come to Discover Majorca's Best Beaches! You won't be disappointed...

Holidays in Majorca : Pollensa

Are you still searching for a nice and sunny destination for you summer holidays? If you answer yes to this question, then you have to book a Pollensa hotel or an apartment Pollensa as soon as possible!

CENTRE%20POLLENCA.jpgPollensa is located in the north of Majorca, one hour away from Palma. The town was built in the 13th century a few kilometers away from the sea to prevent pirates from attacking suddenly. That's how Pollensa avoided the total destruction. However, today you can't really see a lot left from the Pollensa medieval and most of the constructions are from the 18th century, but the little town still has a great charm.

port-de-pollenca-mallorca-22.jpgYou will enjoy taking a walk in the alley of Polensa and visiting the numerous art galleries. In the middle of all these tiny streets, you will find Plaça Major, the main square where you can relax and have a coffee. Don't miss the Via Crucis, an amazing and long stone stairway which leads to the Puig de Calvari, the pride of the city. Of course, you can then relax on the closest beaches: Cala Figuera, Cala Murta or Cala Formentor.

To sum it all, this destination will be perfect for you if you want to relax in the beautiful island of Mallorca!
