"Es parla català" - One speaks Catalan


The Catalan language is a Romance language. Catalan is connected to the Italian, French and Spanish languages. It is the national and official language of Andorra and the co- official language of the Balearic Islands, Catalonia and Valencian Community. On the Balearic Islands, Catalan is mainly spoken. You should absolutely keep this in mind when you spend your holiday in Majorca or your Ibiza holiday!

The language was created between the 8th and 10th Century. Today about 11,6 million people speak the Catalan language; in Spain (Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Valencian Community and Aragon), Italy (in the city of Alghero in Sardinia), France (in the Pyrenees) and Andorra. Every region has its own dialect. In Majorca one speaks Majorcan and in Valencia one speaks Valencian.

The Catalan language in Majorca:
Catalan and Spanish are the official languages of Majorca. Typically, young Majorcans are bilingual in Catalan and Spanish. In Majorca the dialect is called Majorcan.

Majorca - Restaurant Guide

Restaurant Marisquería Can Jordi
The simple and cozy restaurant is in the proximity of the Majorcan airport in Palma. In this cordial restaurant you can enjoy the freshest fishes and sea fruits. Ibiza's fantastic beaches


Ibiza is well-known as a party- and beach destination. I already wrote about the nightlife in Ibiza, now I would like to talk about the fantastic beaches. The Balearic Island Ibiza is a great destination for a relaxed Ibiza beach holiday.

Beaches in the South

Playa d'en Bossa: This beach is located directly in the holiday resort Playa d'en Bossa and offers a wide range of activities. A windsurf- and diving school as well as a catamaran- and paddleboat rental is situated at the beach. The beach is approximately 2 km long and 20 - 30 m broad. Sun loungers and sunshades can be rented; furthermore there are numerous restaurants and bars near the beach. The beach is gently sloping into the sea and is suitable for a Ibiza family vacation. Beautiful Ibiza hotels, e.g. the "Fiesta Club Palm" beach hotel in Ibiza, are directly located besides the beautiful, fine sand beach and offer a great family vacation.

Talamanca: The Talamanca beach is 900 m long and 25 m broad. Sun loungers and sunshades can be rented. A wide choice of great restaurants and bars are located near the beach. Beaches in the East

Santa Eulalia: The beach in Santa Eulalia is 300 m long and 20 m broad. The water is absolutely clean and the beach is ideal for children who like to go swimming or wish to play in the sand of this gently sloping beach. Hiking in Menorca


"Cami de Cavalls" is a medieval coastal- and country path around Menorca, created in the 14th century. The main function was the defence and the control of the Balearic island. On foot, horseback or bike, this ancient coastal trail offers the chance to come into contact with one of the island's most important allures: its nature. "Cami de Cavalls" is considered historic heritage and an asset of cultural and environmental interest. This great path can be visited from any Menorca accommodation.

The path is a total of 180 km long and offers beautiful impressions. Solitary bays and beaches, stone pines and oak trees, idyllic villages expect the Menorca holiday- maker. Formentera - The smallest of the Balearic Islands


The island Formentera is located approximately 20 km south of Ibiza. Its land area is approximately 90 km². Formentera is the smallest and southernmost island of the Pityuses. The island is relatively flat, the highest point amount just 190 meters. Formentera kept much of its original charm. There are many beautiful Formentera apartments and Formentera hotels for those seeking quiet.

There's no airport on Formentera. Guests who spend their holiday in Formentera, fly to Ibiza and take the ferry. The passage with the ferry lasts approximately 30 - 45 min.

Usually you can explore the island by bicycle or by scooter. Most guests come from Germany or Italy. The main holiday place on the island is Es Pujols. The largest holiday place of the island is visited predominantly in the summer. It is because of the sustained bay with a flatsloping sand beach. A beautiful promenade, lined with palms, leads along the fantastic beach. You can find numerous bars and restaurants in Es Pujols. The 3 - stars Formentera hotel "Castavi" is situated just 300 m away from the beautiful sand beach and provides you with tastefully decorated studios. You can reach the city center in just 250 m.

San Francisco Javier is the island's capital and centre of administration. Numerous shops, pharmacies etc. are located in the city. On the market place you can find the city hall of the island and a military church from the 18th Century.

Clubbing in Ibiza

One comes to Ibiza for clubbing! That's not a miracle! Ibiza offers many possibilities for celebrating round the clock. An international public comes each summer to the island to experience the sweeping beats in one of the numerous clubs and to dance until the early morning hours.
