Mallorca Events in October

The summer might be over in most European countries, but in Ibiza and Mallorca the vibrant holiday atmosphere just goes on and on. You can still visit the Islands and book an Ibiza accommodation or a Mallorca holiday rental to enjoy the many traditional events that still take place on the Balearics in October.

On the 12th October it’s a national holiday for the whole country of Spain. On Dia de la Hispanidad the country commemorates the discovery of the Americas by Christopher Columbus in 1492. If you’re on the Islands on this day, then take into account that many banks and other official institutions will be closed that day.

October 21st the Festa de Virgin takes place in the capital of Mallorca, Palma. It’s truly wonderful to be on a holiday in a Palma de Mallorca Hotel in autumn when the climate is milder, but still agreeable and when the city is less crowded with tourists. During the Festa de Virgin you can enjoy many traditional activities throughout the city. Join in with the locals singing their serenades honoring the virgin and try all the delicious traditional cakes.

Finally on the third Sunday in October the place to be is Sant Joan, also in Mallorca. Here the Festa des Butifarra invites the really big eaters among you to taste as much as possible of the tasty sausages after whom this Fiesta was called. The delicacy called Butifarra is a typical Catalan sausage made of raw pork and spices.
